Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 6 June 2026

1. Introduction and Acceptance

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your membership of, and participation in events organised by, SCL CLB ("we", "us", "our"), a non-profit organisation. By registering with SCL CLB or attending any of our events, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not register or attend.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

2. About SCL CLB

SCL CLB organises community social events including, but not limited to, group walks, sports viewings, pub meet-ups, and other activities. Our events are open to adults aged 18 and over unless otherwise stated. We are a non-profit organisation and do not operate for financial gain.

3. Registration and Membership

3.1 To attend SCL CLB events, you may be required to register for an account or sign up via a third-party platform (such as Meetup or Eventbrite).

3.2 You must provide accurate and up-to-date information when registering. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

3.3 Membership and attendance at events is personal to you and may not be transferred.

3.4 We reserve the right to refuse, suspend, or terminate your membership or attendance at our events, at our sole discretion, if we believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in inappropriate conduct, or if your continued participation is not in the best interests of the community.

4. Event Registration and Cancellation

4.1 Event places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis unless otherwise stated.

4.2 If you sign up for an event and are unable to attend, please cancel your place as soon as possible to allow others the opportunity to attend.

4.3 We reserve the right to cancel, reschedule, or modify events at any time, including due to low attendance, adverse weather, venue issues, or circumstances beyond our control. We will endeavour to provide reasonable notice where possible, but accept no liability for any inconvenience or costs arising from such changes.

4.4 Where an event is fee-based, our refund policy will be set out at the point of booking.

5. Conduct at Events

5.1 You agree to behave in a respectful, courteous, and lawful manner towards all other attendees, organisers, and staff at all SCL CLB events.

5.2 SCL CLB operates a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment, bullying, discrimination, or abusive behaviour of any kind. Behaviour which is offensive, threatening, or harmful to others will result in immediate removal from the event and potential permanent exclusion from SCL CLB.

5.3 You must not attend events under the influence of alcohol or substances to a degree that affects your behaviour or the experience of other attendees.

5.4 You agree to comply with any rules, guidelines, or instructions given by organisers or venue staff during an event.

5.5 You are responsible for any damage caused by your conduct at events.

6. Health, Safety, and Personal Responsibility

6.1 You attend all SCL CLB events entirely at your own risk. SCL CLB is not responsible for any injury, illness, loss, or damage suffered by you during or in connection with an event.

6.2 You confirm that you are in suitable physical health to participate in the events you register for. For events involving physical activity (such as walks), it is your responsibility to assess your own fitness and to inform the organiser of any relevant health conditions before the event.

6.3 In the event of a medical emergency, you consent to SCL CLB organisers taking reasonable steps to seek emergency assistance on your behalf.

6.4 SCL CLB does not hold insurance covering personal injury or loss of property for attendees. You are encouraged to arrange your own personal insurance if required.

6.5 We take reasonable steps to assess risk in connection with our events, but cannot guarantee that events are free from risk. Participation in outdoor activities, sports viewings at public venues, and similar activities carries inherent risks that you accept by attending.

7. Liability

7.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, SCL CLB and its organisers exclude all liability for any loss, injury, or damage of any kind arising from your participation in events, whether direct, indirect, consequential, or otherwise.

7.2 Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability which cannot be excluded by law.

7.3 SCL CLB is not liable for the acts or omissions of third parties, including venues, transport providers, or other attendees.

8. Photography and Media

8.1 Photographs and videos may be taken at our events for use in our promotional materials, social media, and communications. By attending an event, you acknowledge and consent to this.

8.2 If you do not wish to be photographed, please inform the event organiser at the start of the event. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request.

8.3 You must not photograph or record other attendees without their explicit consent.

9. Intellectual Property

All content produced by SCL CLB, including event materials, communications, branding, and website content, is the property of SCL CLB and may not be reproduced without our prior written consent.

10. Communications

By registering with SCL CLB, you agree to receive communications relevant to your membership and events. You may opt out of non-essential communications (such as newsletters) at any time. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy.

11. Third-Party Platforms

Our events may be managed or promoted through third-party platforms such as Meetup or Eventbrite. Your use of those platforms is subject to their own terms of service and privacy policies. SCL CLB is not responsible for the content, services, or data practices of third-party platforms.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may amend these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be available at sclclb.com/terms. Continued participation in SCL CLB events following any amendment constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. We will notify you of material changes where practicable.

13. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and SCL CLB in relation to your membership and participation in events, and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be severed, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
